Dear Saints,

For many of us, our experience of being made disciples of Christ has been one which follows the pattern of Baptism, followed by Confirmation in the teenage years, at which time we were admitted to Holy Communion. Since the mid-nineties, under certain circumstances and with the bishop's permission, parishes in the Church of England have been allowed to admit baptised children to Holy Communion before Confirmation.

We ended our gospel reading on Trinity Sunday with the following verses from Mathew 28:18-20:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”


Making disciples is therefore an important part of our parish life. It is a sign of Christ’s presence in the world and the nations. In light of our biblical mandate to make disciples, our parish ministry provides for the inclusion of children in the whole of church life, including Sunday worship.


We are grateful to Revd Ank Muller and the Sunday School team for the effort they have put into preparing our children for admission to Holy Communion. It is therefore with great joy that we await their inclusion as we fulfil yet another of Christ’s commands in the breaking of bread this coming Sunday, 7 June. We have been praying for Tara, Ria, Livia, Belia, and Alicia; may they receive abundant blessings from our Lord and, in turn, become a blessing to all around them.


On another note, we would also like you to keep Blair Charles, our Magazine editor, and his wife Marilyn in your prayers. The July edition of our magazine will be his final one as Editor. We are grateful for yet another disciple of Christ fulfilling his ministry of making disciples.
Summer is nearly upon us. Please keep in your prayers our preparations for our next two big activities, Summer Teas in July and August and the Castle Fair in September. We pray that these activities are a sign that witnesses to Jesus’ presence in our midst.
